Shaun Chapa – Support for his family

Dear Division G colleagues:

It is with sadness that I report the passing of our young colleague, Shaun Chapa, 32 years old.

Shaun, a graduate student in anthropology at the University of North Texas, was scheduled to present in a Division G session at the upcoming AERA meetings in Vancouver (see below). His professor, Dr. Mariela Nuñez-Janes, will be presenting Shaun’s paper in his honor. He was a strong advocate for the educational and civil rights of undocumented youth.

His fraternity brothers (Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity) have set up an education account for his daughter, Elexcia (Lexi) 7 years old. I am appealing to all Division G members to please contribute to the account on her behalf. It would be greatly appreciated.

PayPal account set up by Shaun’s fraternity brothers:

The other way to donate is to go to any Wells Fargo Bank and make a deposit into the DONATION FUND FOR ELEXCIA M. CHAPA

Sincerely, Luis
