The Ohio State University’s College of Education and Human Ecology is seeking an innovative and visionary senior colleague to serve as an Associate or Full Professor (with tenure) of Learning Technologies in the Department of Educational Studies, and as the Founding Executive Director of the Learning Technologies Center, to begin in the 2016-2017 academic year. As a senior faculty member, the candidate is expected to conduct research related to learning technologies; secure extramural funding to support their research; teach a reduced number of current and/or new graduate courses in the Learning Technologies program; advise MA and Ph.D. students; and participate in Department, College, and professional service activities. As Executive Director, the candidate would oversee the new Learning Technologies Center. The vision for the new College center will include an increased emphasis on the development of e-learning (e.g., programs and courses), new initiatives that would foster the culture of e-learning and learning technologies within the College (broadly defined, but which could include such areas as distance education, K-12 technology integration, mobile learning, and digital equity and policy), as well as work collaboratively with the College Office of Information Technology and the university Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE). The Executive Director will help guide the Center into national prominence in Learning Technologies. The Executive Director is responsible for the planning of new initiatives, providing leadership in research related to the Center, and oversight of extant services (which currently include an interim Director, 5-7 staff members, and concomitant budget). The current team provides resources and services to faculty and students, such as technology tools, instructional design, and multimedia production.
Doctorate in a field closely related to Learning Technologies (e.g., Educational Technology, Instructional Technology). Successful applicants will have a record of research-based publications, a record of extramural funding commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor (with tenure) at a leading research institution, a commitment to quality teaching and mentorship, and a background in e-learning. Candidates are also required to have leadership, supervisory, and budgetary experience.
